Grandmother, Mother & Daughter Arrested After Allegedly Shoplifting as a Family at Target on Black Friday

The family that shoplifts together … stays together? Three generations of women in the same family: a grandmother, mother, and daughter were allegedly caught shoplifting at a Florida Target. The two older women were arrested as a result.

If shoplifting wasn’t illegal, this whole situation would seem like a great joke. But the women were briefly jailed for their alleged crimes. They each had to pay a bond to be freed. Seriously, don’t be surprised if this becomes a Lifetime movie in the future.

The young woman was the first to be noticed.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office posted a statement about crime over the holiday weekend on their Facebook page. They were called to a Target in Palm Coast, Florida, on November 29, 2024, for shoplifting in progress. A young woman had been spotted by employees.

The girl was part of an alleged crime group.

According to the police, a Target loss prevention specialist had the girl in custody before calling for help. “The employee had observed the juvenile female placing cosmetic products into her backpack,” they wrote. But it turns out it wasn’t just the young woman who has sticky fingers.

It appears that her mom and grandmother were also in on the theft.

Two women, 54-year-old Ylena Regul and 76-year-old Tamara Keetley, the girl’s mother and grandmother, were also reportedly stealing. Police say the two had “placed multiple bottles of wine and champagne into the juvenile’s backpack.” When the girl “bypassed all points of sale” and attempted to leave the store, she was brought into the loss prevention office.

At the same time, Regul and Keetley were observed concealing more bottles of wine and champagne into bags. Regul then exited the store with the concealed merchandise and walked to her vehicle in the parking lot, while Keetley entered the restroom in the front of the store. A short time later, Keetley exited the store and joined Regul in the parking lot,” police explained.

The women reportedly attempted to steal several hundred dollars' worth of merchandise.

Regul hadn’t gotten far from the store before deputies found her; she was right outside. They explained to her that her daughter was in the loss prevention office, escorting her there as well. Keetley was already in the parking lot, allegedly approaching her car with a shopping cart full of the stolen Target items when she was found and also brought into the loss prevention office. Eventually, those in charge say that the women attempted to steal $379.55 worth of cosmetics and alcohol.

This mother and grandmother certainly won’t win mother and grandmother of the year,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “We told our community that we would have an increased presence protecting our businesses and shoppers on Black Friday, but unfortunately, this family didn’t listen. In addition to stealing, they involved a child in their criminal acts, which is a shameful thing for a mother and grandmother to do.”

Both women were charged with shoplifting – petit theft and contributing to the delinquency of a child. After being taken to jail, they were released after posting a $650 bond. The girl was put in the care of her father.
