Everyone warns you about the newborn stage. You lose sleep. They cry. You worry that they’re too fragile and might suddenly stop breathing. But one thing we often don’t appreciate about this time is the fact that we can contain babies. If we put them down, we can return to that spot and find them right there.
But once those chubby legs start toddling around, the job gets a lot more active and in the case of one mom, downright scary.

Bri's son disappeared when she went to the bathroom.
TikToker @_BrifromBama, shared video of her frantically running around in front of her Ring camera as she searched for her 2-year-old son. Minutes before, she was seen hysterical in her front yard, Bri went to the bathroom. While she was in there, she heard her front door shut. When she searched her home, her son, Baylor, was nowhere to be found. That’s when she took her search outside.

Bri said she felt 'helpless' in the moment.
Bri called the police to report Baylor’s disappearance. By then, her neighbors came out to help. They called her child’s name and even went inside Bri’s home. Bri included some text over the tense imagery.
“I am the most protective mom you will probably ever meet but I’ve never felt so helpless in the moment,” she wrote. After 20 minutes of looking, her son walked right out the front door.
He was in the house the whole time.
Bri ran toward him and asked him where he was. She picked him up, hugging her long-lost toddler. Turns out, Baylor was hiding under the bed.
In the caption, Bri wrote that she “somehow didn’t see him the 5 times I looked.”
She told the nearly 3 million people who watched her video that she was never going to use the bathroom again. Of course, once the boy had been found the police showed up. The officer spoke to Baylor, who was excited to see him.
Other people shared their own stories of vanishing children.
In the comments section, the 911 dispatcher who spoke to Bri offered kind words.
“I took your 911 call 💗 so so thankful you found your baby 💗,” the dispatcher said. “Girl I was hysterical lol thank you!!” Bri wrote in response.
Other people shared their own stories of children wandering off.
“My sister hid under the bed for 3-4 hours n fell asleep,” one user shared. “We had the whole neighborhood looking and the police department 😂.”
Another parent utilized a bit of a trick to get her kid to come out and show themselves: “I lost my son and I was hysterical. Ran around screaming my neighbors and other kids were looking EVERYWHERE. I went inside and sang The ants go marching one by one… and I heard his little ‘hurrah.'”
With so many missing kid stories that end tragically, we’re glad that this one had a happy ending.
