It’s hard enough to open up to a therapist about tough topics, but that vulnerability usually comes with the reward of taking another step toward healing. For Khloé Kardashian, though, it sounds like it actually turned into a nightmare. In a new interview, Khloé revealed that her former therapist shared her private information with a tabloid while she was going through her divorce from Lamar Odom.

Khloé started seeing a therapist during her divorce.
Khloé and Lamar’s divorce was finalized in 2016, and around that time, Khloé really committed to embarking on her fitness journey after losing trust in her therapist, as she said in a new interview with Bustle.
“I remember I was going to therapy and the next thing I knew, something private I told my therapist was on a tabloid,” she said. “And I knew that my therapist disclosed this information to a tabloid because there’s no way this could have gotten out there.”
The gym became her safe place.
“So I stopped going to therapy and started going to the gym,” she said. “I needed a release, but I did not trust anybody else anymore. And the place that I felt the safest was the gym.”
Khloé didn’t share exactly what information it was that her former therapist shared, but it sounds like it was a pretty devastating experience for her.
To this day, it sounds like the memory of what that feels like has stuck with her.
“It was very jarring and sort of unbelievable, but there’s not a chance in the world that it came from anywhere else,” Khloé added of the experience.

Khloé has found a way to trust a therapist again.
Khloé, who turned 40 in June, said that she started going to therapy again at the age of 39 with the encouragement of big sister Kim Kardashian.
“She’s really lovely and I really like her. It’s actually Kim’s therapist,” Khloé said. “Kim was really adamant. I was like, ‘I’ll do this for you.’ I dragged my feet, and then I was like, ‘Wow, OK, this is good. I needed this.’ And my therapist was like, ‘I think you should come three days a week.’ She was like, ‘You really need to be here.’ It all worked out.”
Her family played a big role in helping her get out of dark times.
While talking about the “negative thoughts” that took up residence in her head during the pandemic, Khloé said Kim and mom Kris Jenner helped her make it through to the other side.
“I will say my sister Kim has really held my hand through so many dark phases for me. And my mom. But Kim has really been this crusader for me,” she said. “I feel like she has always been holding that light at the end of the tunnel, drawing me closer to the light. I’m just really grateful for that relationship. When people see things in you that you can’t see in yourself and they keep reminding you — it’s such a special quality. We all need those champions.”
