Gender reveal parties are controversial for many reasons. Some people believe that gender reveals reinforce gender stereotypes and gender essentialism. Additionally, the pressure to have an interesting gender reveal party has caused some people to experiment with dangerous, life-threatening stunts just to let their loved ones (and maybe social media followers) know whether they’re expecting a boy or a girl.
Although many gender reveals have left people dumbfounded over the years, some people think a recent gender reveal idea could be the “stupidest” one yet.

The father-to-be used his motorcycle for the gender reveal.
Using balloons to reveal your baby’s sex is not uncommon. Typically, people will burst a balloon and the color of confetti or powder inside will reveal the sex of their baby.
The couple in a video shared on Facebook did exactly that, but the way in which they went about it raised a few eyebrows. Instead of simply inflating the balloon and popping it, the father-to-be had a balloon attached to the exhaust pipe on his motorcycle.
He kept revving his motorcycle until the balloon burst.
To inflate the balloon, he revved his engine. The father-to-be kept revving his motorcycle until the balloon expanded so much that it burst. When the balloon finally popped, it revealed that he and his partner were expecting a boy.

People saw the gender reveal as a major safety hazard.
Even though finding out the sex of your baby can be an exciting milestone, many people who saw the video of this gender reveal couldn’t get over how unsafe it seemed.
“Mmmm it’s a…. carbon monoxide poisoning party!” one person commented on Facebook. “How could anyone be this ignorant???” someone else wrote. “That was so dangerous to think what could have happened.”
Some pointed out that although the couple didn’t seem to have any bad intentions, “the pregnant mom just inhaled all of that and so did her baby.”
Some saw it as a sign of a larger problem: Gender reveals have gotten 'out of hand.'
For some people who watched the video, this particular gender reveal stood out from the rest.
“One of the stupidest things that I’ve ever seen,” one person commented.
Others, however, saw the dangerous gender reveal idea as part of a larger problematic trend. “These gender reveal parties have just gotten way too out of hand,” one person commented, adding, “Is it too much to ask to keep it simple, direct to the point but most importantly safe?”
Not all of the reactions were negative.
Although the motorcycle gender reveal left many people feeling completely baffled or even disgusted, some people liked the idea — or at least didn’t hate it.
“I’m sorry but I thought it was cute,” one person commented. “They’re outside on an awesome looking patio.”
Others agreed that the couple appeared to be outdoors in the video. One commenter called people out for being ” judgmental.”
